So I want to have the happy medium in between of being close enough to him to avoid the kick, the most important thing is to avoid the attack. Avoid- Control – Choose.
So as he throws a kick as the way I’m going to do it, I don’t wanna be here. I want to get off the line or in other words I want the line to change. I don’t want to get off the line because it’s my line, I want him to get off my line and I need to convince him to do so. So I just trick him. As he goes to kick I accept the kick here but as he goes to kick I change and redirect that kick to put him in a position where now I’ve control over him. Ok, the control will change so I’ve gotta act on it. But for a moment I have got control of him. Ok so that’s what we are going to work.
As he throws the kick, moving past the person. He throws a kick, moving past the person. Kick, here. And the way we’re doing this is just as he throws the kick I’m dropping the outside of my arm down to deflect- kick to the outside. Don’t try to hit it- boom! That’s a block and if you try to block someone’s leg with a small bone in your arm, that’s a good-that’s a quick trip to the hospital. Ok, you’re not going to stop anybody’s kick with that bone. Well you may stop it but its gonna stop you also. So I deflect it by the outside of my arm here just like that. The other thing is I’m doing this for an example for a demonstration, but don’t drop your hand. Don’t leave both hands here because you’re gonna get spunked or you’re gonna get smashed in you’re face. So as he kicks, I’ve both hands up – to move past.
Ok, here. So if the secondary punch does come my hands are up. So we’re gonna practice moving past him as he goes to kick I cut down and I move past him. That’s the idea- cut past him. As he kicks, drop – move past. Make sure that you’re assuming the second attack. Make sure that when you move past him – here- even if he doesn’t punch, you’re at least contacting his arm here as you move past him. Ok like a ghost. Here – move past him. Step aside and let the man come through! Like that.
