In this video of Karate Techniques & Tips, Nissan Edwards, the owners of ETL marshal arts educate viewers about how to use pressure point in case of emergency. Pressure points are present all over human body. A pressure point is point of impact, directed at a very sensitive part of the body that is going to really hurt and take that opponent out automatically.

Pressure points help in self deference scenarios and cause some deadly harm to the opponent. Nissan Edwards, with the help of her husband shows how to take advantage of different pressure points and infuse great pain to the opponent.

Hi, my name is Nissan Edwards and my husband Dug Edwards, we are the owners at ETL marshal arts and fitness in Kansas, Georgia. Today we are going to explain a little bit about pressure points. At ETL we practice Taekwondo and in Taekwondo its mostly strike and techniques and kicks. Now pressure points come in more of a self deference scenario where it can do some deadly harm and now what is a pressure point?

A pressure point is impact, directed at a very sensitive part of the body that is going to really hurt and take that opponent out just automatically. So, I am going to ask my husband to turn sideways and if I look at his neck up, there is pressure point all over his head area and so think about eye socket, nose, throat, ear. Any appendage or any socket that would cause pain. So if I wanted to apply force to his head, a pressure point could be right here at his nose. Ok? Another one could be right in the eye socket. I can either jab a finger in that eye or I can add a punch here. Now another pressure point that, that’s quite easy to do is someone’s ear. It only takes 5 pounds of pressure to actually rip a ear off someone’s head and anyone could do that.

So I could pull easily. Now if I were here, he would attack me back, from behind. My hands are still free and I can take that ear and pretty much direct his body where ever I wanted to go. Another favorite pressure point is here at the throat. Now the Adams apple, if you did that to yourself, just apply a little bit of pressure there, absolutely. You’ll infuse some type of sensation or pain. Underneath the Adams apple, its just a.. a opening. Right under the throat area. You can take your thumb and push into the voice box and actually take someone’s voice away. You can do that with a thumb but imagine if you want to take a punch into the same type of damage.

Now we are going to move down the body, neck down. Lots of pressure points here. Now think about this. How realistic this one is. I can actually take his chest. The nipple area. Apply some pressure and actually twist and pull. Ok? Doesn’t matter how big the guy is, he is going to go down. I can also right here in the sternum, I can apply my finger here, pushing through or I can even do that. Fist, or a knee ok? Lots of pain here. Another one is underneath the arm ok? An easy way to do this without even striking or punching, you can just reach up, grab and take that arm set here and just pull. Ok? And then, finally, we go below the waist. And this one everyone should know. The groin area. You can do a strike to the groin area with the knee, you can punch, ok? Another favorite is actually to once again reach, pull, twist. Easy one. Works every time.

In the back area, there’s several. Ok? The spine is a very very sensitive our part of the body. So I can go here in the low spine, I can take the neck here ok? or I can do top of the — ok? Which is going to pull down. Any type of strike, or even a grab, will take the person in a direction that you are in control of.

The foot has several pressure points. Think about each individual toe. One stomp at the toe can inflict in that pain to make your opponent jump back or fall forward, ok? You can stomp or you can stomp and then twist. Hand. Very sensitive area as well. If you want to try break someone’s finger, you would do it in a two step process. You would do a pulling motion and a twisting motion at the same time. So if my opponent were to grab me from the back, and I needed to struggle out and I chose to use a pressure point, I could reach forward, take one of his pinki, start twisting and then pulling and they move away as I go.

Although these appears to be easy you have to be very tough to that. Continuous practice is much needed so your hands become hard enough to break marbles. However, do not try this home when you are alone. Please do under adult supervision only strictly.

Hi there, today we are going to practice some D side kicking and related stanza’s footwork. The video is also easy to understand and one easily workout the steps. Lets see the video,

Hi, I am Alex ray. It is from pointfighter.com. I am former nascar world champion, former PKA world champion and I am trainer of many world champions. I have teams that I call junior teams and adult teams that I have made more champions and champions’ teams. Now today I wanna be doing some drills, some training drills that help you out here fighting also give you some instructions. So these are some good ideas for you guys to do to your students. Today, I am gonna do the demonstration with one my lemo and getting two future world champions. Now see our Roowen. Roowen gonna do now is de felted back kick, that has many name, de side, de side daring kick, tuckitoes and any names. But this the way we are going to do it today. Basically, there is a back kick, ok. That’s it. Where they heal. Now its like a side kick because, it comes from bottom down, it holds you down, your knees is down, right, ok. So lets this basically, how we want to start. You grab the hold of pad on one of the targets. And first you want to start like this, just to get motion.

So I am goona come in and he is gonna do a v side. Ok that’s it. He is gonna do it real slow now. Ok, so one more time slow. Ok. So his knees are down and he is coming up. Ok. Right now if you wanna do fight like this, ok, you got that. Ok. Once you get going strt like that, you can start to do it from bounce. It’s good to fight bouncing because you are hard to hit when you are bouncing. Ok. Right, now so he is gonna bounce and I am gonna bounce and then that’s also good for doing the pressing, because tats the drill that’s going to be like holding to pad I am going bilits it. I am working on my bilits. So ok, bounce, come in, good. Now the next one, same thing ok. For now we gonna work a way. Because when working on d side, You are setting somebody up for the d side. So using the way to set up a d side is that you gotta know its coming with punches. Most people will come at you with blases or the kick for they come down with hands this technique is must, if you wanna win on a national circuit. In order to use it, you have to work it way ok. So Raig is gonna bounce around the ring and ok. I am on the outer edges and I am gonna come in and he is gonna place some d side. He can go also the other way. Now one more drill for this one, is the person holding the pads starts going facing it, ok. So he is going to be standing there, we gonna bouncing, we gonna stay right here ok, now to sum it all up, if you want in this dare up karate, you need to have a d side. Lot of people, the traditional people, the people from the 80’s, may be say that, that’s not the real kick but I think it is a real kick if you want the right way. Ok. So it’s a real back kick. That’s how you see it. And that is must if you win all the good fighters doing it and you need to have it kicks to just get the timings down here and work drills and practicing the fighting.

According to many Martial art expert there is no age ban on learning martial art. Yu can learn martial art till you feel you are strong.

Are you an adult whose always thought about taking martial arts classes but you think maybe you are too old or not in shape. Well it’s something that anybody can try and we would be glad to let you come in and try a free lesson here in the school. You are going to be in a group with adults only. If you like your first lesson which is absolutely free you didn’t move into a group of beginner adults ad slowly progress up. There’s no other activity that an adult can get involved in that’s gonna cover the three areas of fitness that are so important for a prolonged life and health.

Flexibilty- you are gonna go over stretching not on your legs or kicks but your upper body and increase that flexibility so you can perform the kicks that we do in karate as well as just avoid injury in day to day life. Cardiovascular development that’s the health of your heart, your lungs your breathing. That’s something that’s gonna be very important in your martial arts development. And the third area of physical fitness is just strength. Doing things to make your arms, your legs, your core center stronger.

Having strong abdominal muscles is a great way for an adult to avoid back problems later in life. So those three areas you are going to cover on a weekly basis. Flexibilty, cardiovascular development and strength development in a professional atmosphere while you are working with other adults that have the same goals that you do. And while you are going over three areas of fitness you are going to be learning how to defend yourself which is something that is very important for an adult to be aware of in this violent world in which we live today. Do this with all your foot technique all your kicks, turning kicks, hooking kicks etc. if you look into gain height in your kicks you need to relax the groin muscles. So, let’s start again with the side kick.

Step as you could balance, preparation, now execute. While executing you need to relax the groin muscles. by relaxing the muscles allow you higher height, hold to the count to 5 retract set back down and do this will all the kicks you are familiar with turn kick, hooking kick and advanced 180 hooking, good. That includes our isometric stretching workshop.

Isometric means slow motion. The benefits of slow motion stretching that helps you with bounce, preparation, execution as well as gaining height in your foot techniques.

Lets start with a right leg back in a walking or out stance. take an example of a front snap kick. Before you begin your kick make sure you have a good solid stable stance. Once the stance has been establish prepare for your kick. At this time if you happen to have a problem with balance, either bring your hands to center or side to side retracted or bend your base leg. Once your balance is been established take a look at your foot position. Now deliver your technique very slowly and watch your presentation. Hold and count 5 and retract and set back down.

Do the same thing with the side cursing kick, start with a good stance prepare, look at your foot posture, execute slowly. By doing slow motion training, it allows me to make necessary, whether its my foot posture, if its my delivery of my kick, then necessarily cant do when i am doing the technique fast.

Have it close to you. That’s what we always recommend. If it’s out here somebody can just snatch your purse. They might not touch you personally but all your belongings are in there. So a great time to be aware and just know some basic techniques. So we want to sort of arm the value with confidence.”

“Yeah show us some of those basic techniques.”
“Okay, awesome, well –uh- one thing that we wanted to – may be you want to go this way.”
”Sure”

“- is that –uh- somebody might – if they’re going for your purse, they might grab your wrist to try to control you. So instinctively, if a potential attacker is grabbing me, generally what I want to do is he going to be pulling that way and so I’m gonna pull this way.”
“Yeah”

“But what –uh…”
“Right and in my response to that you see I want to pull you know back….”
“Right”

”Keep control and use both hands. It’s teaching you to think like more about – less about the hands and I’ve got other weapons. I’ve got my elbow, I’ve got my shoulder, I’ve got my knees so instead of pulling away, I start to pull in, she’s going to come right in with it.”

“So just the basic concept is I’m gonna turn my whole body into a weapon. Go with it now all I have to fight off is the thumb. Have another weapon here like Marc said. Another weapon here might come in at the knee. But of course the main idea is we don’t need to be a hero we just want to run to safety, that’s our ultimate objective, is to stay safe around the holidays. But if we know just a couple of these basic things when we’re walking we know if something happens I’m going to take control.”

“Right and what about if someone comes from behind. You’re walking to your car and you know.”
“Sure”

“Same thing there. Somebody’s most likely – because they want your money generally speaking at this of the year they definitely want to necessarily hurt you. So going for the bag and that’s what we are demonstrating here. Most of us are right handed so we carry the bag this way. Same thing if he grabs here, I’m going to be pulling this way, if I just go with it considering he is pulling back. I’m going to drop my elbow he’s gonna fold- boom! Boom! And then he’s gonna be overtaken kind of with shock. We also like to add the voice.”

“Right”
“Bring it outside the body, always- always”
“That’s really…”

“So we can add the voice”
“That’s really something important. I’m going this way, he’s pulling, instead of me pulling over or fighting, I go with it – “No” and scream it’s startling.”

“Okay, alright.”
“So that’s something we spend a lot of time on.”

“Well thanks so much for the both of you for being here, showing us those quick tips. But of course if you guys want to actually go to a class and – and learn them, if you have time. In North Scottsdale you guys are located at Raintree and Northside, you can check them out on the web or you can give them a call at 480-556-9181. Again that’s Atlas Martial Arts
