Now if I angle this kick up which a lot of people have a bad habit of doing is going to get caught on my opponent’s guard or it’s going to just graze up the top.
We have to go to the head, so we need to go parallel above the glove and down. Up and it’s just gonna graze. If I go up it’s going to catch here. So what I have to do is get up over the shoulder. Now it’s a lot easier when you angle it in you don’t have to go over the shoulder here. The high round kick.
This is a tutorial for taekwondo round kick. It’s the sport kick not the round house. So let us get to it.
Ok now the way this kick differs from the roundhouse kick, is this kick is going to come up and turn. Roundhouse kick you’re coming out in a circular motion. Step 1 what you are going to do is lift the knee. Step 2 you’re gonna point your supporting heel towards your target and turn your hip over and make sure your knee and your foot are parallel to the ground. So from here – step 1 – lift, 2 – turn, 3 - kick through, slightly extend, retract the kick and bring it down in front of you.
The instructor in this video shows the difference between the round kick and the full round house kick in Taekwondo. It is a step by step tutorial which is easy to follow and very precise.
By demonstrating the kick step by step in slow motion and how it really should be executed, the instructor shows his experience as a tutor and master in Taekwondo.
