Hi my name is Adjubul Gadu on behalf of ExpertVillage we’re going to talk a little bit today about Ponte.
Ponte –uh- is a –is the word for bridge in Portuguese. In capoeira you see a lot of movements that require lot of the acrobatic movements require some good back flexibility. You require you’re able to go in and out of the bridge. Uh when you start training the bridge, a lot of times I think the easiest way to train is first is you wanna go ahead and just lay flat on your back, your feet are flat on the floor, your knees are pointed towards the ceiling.
You want to take your hands and you’re going to put them right next to your ears with your fingers pointed down towards your feet and your wrists pointed forwards towards you will be looking at. And from there you’re just going to push up with your hands and your feet, you’re gonna push your belly button or your hips as high as they can go and hold that position.
Okay once you get into that position, you want to make sure that you – -uh- that you can see forwards at all times okay.
