  3. How to Meia Lua de Compasso: Capoeira Moves Pt.3

So we start with the basic ginga position with my right foot back, heel off the floor, right arm is up to protect my face.

As I step across to the bazi or the base, I’m going to keep my right hand in front of my face, it protects my face all the way until I put my hands flat on the floor. Ok so my right foot steps up to the base, my left foot is gonna step sideways across my body at a 45 degree angle.

I’m going to put both hands flat on the floor and then I want to straighten my right leg and bend my left knee. Okay, pull your toes on your right foot towards your shin so that when you strike you are actually kicking with your heel and not the bottom of your foot or any other part of your foot. You want to hit with your heel on this kick.

Okay so Mei– I mean in the basic Meia Lua de Compasso position my left knee is bent, my right leg is straight, my right toes are being pulled up towards my shin bone and then I’m, going to go and take the foot off the floor and swing it in a full circle all the way round to the back making sure to strike the target with my right heel and my right leg completely straight.

In case you didn’t see the video in part 1 of this series… here it is again.
