If Henderson can avenge his December 2000 loss to Silva he will be the owner of Pride’s Welterweight and Middleweight Championship belts. Plus long time friend and trainer Ryan Barson believes Dan can handle any situation he is put into.
“If you look at Dan, Dan made to Olympic team at 21 years old, which is pretty much unheard of. You know you see wrestlers who are peaking in their late twenties sometimes early thirties. And Dan is one of those guys who, when the pressure comes down he steps up and gets the job done. That is what he did in 1992; he did it again in ‘96. Then his fighting career came about and you can look at his record that speaks for itself.”
Dan may be a personable fellow but when he gets in a ring he is not all that personable. I thought that I would step into the ring and show Henderson a thing or two on how reporters can throw down. Well of course I didn’t show Dan and he showed me how to fly and how to cry – (cry). Oh my goodness, that hurts- not to self: Don’t do that Mr. Silva its going to be tough.
“Hopefully a quick knockout, you know.
That’s - that’s the ideal thing but either way I’m just gonna be mentally strong and beat him up the whole fight. Win each round”
“Expect Dan to go out there and knock Wander lei‘s out.. This is what we trained for. We are in this to win this and Wander lei is a tough opponent, Dan has a lot of courage, stepping up the weight class he is going to be giving up 20 pounds of Wander lei.
But Dan hits as hard as any body on the planet. If Dan hits Wander lei square on the head, Wander lei is going to be knocked out.
